Rediscovering D.C.: Christmas at Hillwood and Faberge' Exhibit
Wednesday, December 5, 2018, 10:15 AM until 4:00 PM
This activity is limited to Members and one Guest.
Our day trip will include an orientation film, a guided tour of the mansion in its holiday finery, a casual lunch in the self-service Hillwood Express Cafe, then a guided tour of the Faberge' Rediscovered exhibit before returning to Southwest and the Navy Yard at approximately 4pm.
$20 fee includes admission to Hillwood and both tours; lunch is additional.
Transportation: Complimentary for Full Members; $15 round trip for Supporting and Prospective Members. We are also happy to book a shared Uber for you at an estimated fare of $19 plus tip each way for up to 4 persons sharing. You may also meet us at Hillwood Estate, which offers complimentary parking. If you need to shorten your day, we can arrange transportation home after the mansion tour or lunch but there can be no adjustment in the ticket cost.
Village FlexPlan: As we must pay for our tours in advance, refunds cannot be provided. However, if you cancel by November 27, a full credit will be applied to your Village account, to use for future activities of your membership renewal.
If you've enjoyed previous Village summer outings to Hillwood, this holiday tour will be a fresh narration for you, and lunch will be in a casual but upscale self-service dining area rather than the full-service restaurant we have visited in the past.
All Hillwood venues are ADA compliant.
Registration cancellations will be accepted until November 27, 2018 at 11:59 PM
One of the premier art collector's museums in the United States, Hillwood Estate, Museum & Gardens is dedicated to enlightening and engaging visitors with an experience inspired by founder Marjorie Merriweather Post's passion for excellence, gracious hospitality and intent to preserve and share the beauty and history of her collections, garden and estate.
Hillwood Estate is situated on 25 acres of landscaped gardens in northwest Washington, D.C. It includes a Georgian-style mansion featuring Russian Imperial art and French decorative art. It is considered by many to be the most beautiful place to visit in Washington. It was Marjorie Merriweather Post's residence until she died in 1973.
Designed to delight and surprise, the treasures created by the firm of Carl Fabergé have inspired admiration and intrigue for over a century both for their remarkable craftsmanship and for the fascinating histories that surround them.
